DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED corporate import/export compliance policies for three large manufacturing companies. Identified through audits and controls significant compliance issues that avoided government fines and penalties. Recouped $1.4 million in NAFTA duties through revamping of the Cooper Bussmann NAFTA program. Led corporate certification efforts in connection with the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program including certification and validation of over 20 Emerson Mexican manufacturing plants.
ORGANIZED, DEVELOPED AND PRESENTED numerous import and export training seminars to managerial and staff level employees on Harmonized System classification, Customs valuation, NAFTA, ITAR, and many other import and export topics.
DIRECTED U.S. Customs commercial operations for 13 years in four Mid-West ports. Led a staff of 50 persons. Managed yearly collection of over $200 million and a budget of $3.2 million.
PROVIDED CONSULTING for over 500 businesses in the St. Louis region with emphasis on import/export compliance, logistics, market research and overall international business development issues.
DEVELOPED several procedural annexes to the World Customs Organization’s Kyoto Convention on the Facilitation of Customs Formalities while employed by that organization.
REPRESENTED U.S. Customs as delegate at international meetings of the World Customs Organization, the International Maritime Organization and the UN Economic Commission for Europe.
